Village Stores and Post Office

The Village Stores

The Village Stores on Church Road - started in the late 1940's by the Strange family. Today the Village Stores is a thriving Spar shop.

Ben Wiltshire

 Ben Wiltshire (Charlie Wiltshire's brother) ran the garage, bike shop, barbers and Post Office where The Granary is in Church Road today. This photo would have been taken around 1920. The Post Office transitioned to the Village Stores.

Charles Wiltshire

 Charles Wiltshire Shop in Studley Lane opposite the War Memorial.  Charlie Wiltshire and his brother-in-law George Iles went into partnership in 1920. Charlie Wiltshire had the village shop for 51 years from 1905 until 1956 when the shop service transitioned to the Village Stores on Church Road.
