A meeting house for non-conformists in Studley was licensed in 1798. In 1826 a house occupied by James Godwin was certified for Wesleyan Methodist worship.
The Methodist red brick chapel was built in 1855. With the aid of Charles Pavy of Hazeland a schoolroom was added to the chapel in 1896. After the Methodist Union of 1832 the chapel became Studley Methodist Church.
This stone was laid by Chas. T. Pavy of Hazeland in memory of his father July 1st 1892
